With Thanks to Good Things Foundation, Google and Microsoft

Adelaide Senior Road & Health Association Incorporated is a relatively young community organisation helping older people with road safety, health, digital skills and independence. As we have developed our services and online presence, support from other organisations has helped us reach people more effectively and build practical resources for the community.

Good Things Foundation and Be Connected

We are grateful to Good Things Foundation and Be Connected for supporting our digital inclusion work with older people. Their support has helped us work directly with seniors in the community and provide practical, accessible assistance with everyday technology.

  • Helping older people use smartphones and tablets with greater confidence.
  • Supporting access to online and government services.
  • Helping people understand and use mySA GOV.
  • Improving awareness of online safety and safer digital habits.
  • Providing accessible support for Adelaide’s Chinese-speaking senior community.

This kind of support matters because more essential services and everyday tasks now require people to use digital systems. Patient, community-based help can make those systems easier to understand and use.

Google

We also thank Google for accepting the Association into the Google Ad Grant program. For a small community organisation, being easier to find online can make a meaningful difference when people are looking for practical information and support.

The Google Ad Grant program helps us make useful information easier to discover, including information about senior road safety, South Australian road rules and licensing, older drivers and their families, community education, and digital support.

We appreciate the opportunity to use this program to improve access to our public-interest information and community resources.

Microsoft

We are also thankful to Microsoft for nonprofit technology support during the Association’s early development.

Our earlier website infrastructure used Microsoft Azure through nonprofit support. This helped a small organisation establish its early online presence and develop seniordriving.org.au at an important stage in our growth.

That support formed part of our early technology foundation. Our website has continued to evolve since then, and this acknowledgement does not mean that Microsoft Azure is our current hosting platform.

Technology Is Only Useful When It Helps People

Each organisation has supported us in a different way. Good Things Foundation and Be Connected helped us work directly with people. Google has helped people find our information. Microsoft helped us build important early technology and infrastructure.

For us, technology is not an end in itself. It is useful when it helps an older person find reliable information, complete an important online task, understand a road-safety issue, stay connected or feel more confident navigating systems that increasingly affect everyday life.

Looking Ahead

Our work continues across three connected areas:

  • Road — road safety, licensing and safer mobility.
  • Health — wellbeing, ageing and fitness to drive.
  • Digital — helping older people use increasingly important online systems.

These areas often overlap in the everyday lives of older people. Our aim is to provide practical, respectful information and support that helps people remain informed, connected and as independent as possible.

We sincerely thank Good Things Foundation, Be Connected, Google and Microsoft for the different ways they have supported the Association and the community work we are building.
